WHAT A WORKOUT

Well, I made it to the gym tonight after work. I had an Awesome workout! I did a little over 3 miles on the track, lifted 2 sets of weights and did some crunches! This, all after I donated plasma this morning. Working out on my plasma days is usually a really big NO-NO, but it wasn't so bad tonight. Brent had supper ready when I got home; meatloaf (he makes the best meatloaf), mashed potatoes and peas. I drank a whole bottle of water and ate just a few spuds and peas, but had 2 pieces of meatloaf. I figured that was ok because of the protein. And here I thought I would have popcorn for supper tonight. So that's 2 days in a row. Now, I just need to hang on to that over the weekend and into next week. I haven't really been keeping track of the miles on my new running shoes, but since I started the 'training' thing for the 5K, I must have about 15 on them at least, plus a couple more from before I started. I don't think I will 'mile them out' before the big event, but maybe afterwards, that can be my excuse for getting new ones. Although, this pair IS my indoor pair!

Whew-have I been busy

Not doing what I should-going to the gym; but rather trying to keep up with everything else. Brent had a busy week, which means I didn't get to the gym. Last night was the first time I have been there in over a week. I tried the walk/jog routine and the first couple laps that I ran I felt like I weighed a ton. My left knee hurt, I could feel my butt jiggling around behind me and my arms even felt like cement. I toughed out a little over 2 miles, felt like a fat piece of crap and went home. I am going tonight after work. After next week, I need to up my game and start doing 3 miles instead of just 2 and I need to run more laps than I walk.

1/2 the week is gone and No gym; yet

I haven't made it to the gym this week and it isn't looking so good for the rest of the week; although I could certainly try to get there over my lunch hour. Last night I had a board meeting so I hadn't planned on going to the gym. The meeting was postponded to Thursday; which means I won't be going Thursday night either. So Tuesday night since I was free, I donated plasma instead; for the $$. I didn't have my gym stuff with b/c I planned on going to my meeting. Tonight Gavyn has hockey and Brent is working, so I won't make it tonight either. Tomorrow night my meeting is scheduled, so it's no gym tomorrow either and Friday night is Girls Night Out so for sure no gym! Although I will be laughing a lot, so I will be jogging on the inside! Saturday is a gym day for sure; no excuses. Hockey practice is at 11:15 and the rink is in the same parking lot as the gym!

No gym Monday

There should be a rule about not having to go to the gym on Mondays! I HATE Mondays!! Brent works the evening shift, so I picked up the boys, so no gym today. Brent actually came home for a couple hours late this afternoon to take a nap; he wasn't feeling well. If I hurry and get a bunch of stuff done tonight, I could hit the weights in the basement-ya, we'll see how that turns out!!!

Busy weekend

We had a very busy weekend. Gavyn scrimmaged at the Bobcat's hockey game Friday night, so no gym for me. Saturday, Brent and Gavyn were in a fishing tournament at Van Hook by New Town; didn't catch anything! Gryffen and I did some stuff around the house and hit the gym in the morning. I was unbeleivably tired and my legs ached, but I trekked on until I hit the 2 mile mark. Then I did one set of weights and said forget it! Wanted desperately to take a nap Saturday afternoon, but that didn't happen. Sunday arrived and we went to church, came home did some stuff and went to Gavyn's hockey game. The day seemed to whiz by and NO GYM.

Training-Day 4

Today with be day 4 of training. My body is sore today and I am so very tired-I've been going to bed earlier this week than I have for the last month; maybe it's just still catching up with me. I do feel really great when I am finishing my workout. Last night I did some weights, which felt really good; hard but good. I figure if I'm gonna wear the muscle tank top, then I'd better have the muscles to show off. Besides, maybe if my arms look good everyone will stop staring at the jelly-belly and the jiggley bumper that follows me around! Tonights training is supposed to be a 1.5 mile run; ya right. I think if I keep doing the run walk for this first month, I should be able to settle into the actual 5K training; which should start 8 weeks prior to the event. Since I am totally out of shape, I figure this first month will be my training to start the actual training; how's that for rationalization?!!

Training-day 3

I went to to the gym last night too. I did the walk/run for 2 miles again and then I lifted some weights too; just one round on the arms and then a couple pumps on one leg machine. I don't ming lifting weights and it seems it doesn't take too long for my arms to be noticeable; I LOVE the way my arms look when they are toned and the 'flying squirrels' aren't so flighty! I brought my stuff again today, so it's off to the gym again tonight!

Fargo 5K

Today I registered myself for the Fargo 5K. I am very excited and hopefully will actually run the entire race. The website says it's ok if you walk part of it, or the entire race if you wish, but if you need a ride in the Sag Wagon, you're disqualified. How hard can it be; walk/jog 3.1 miles? I can do it! I began training yesterday. I did a 2 mile walk/run at the gym. I felt great by the time I finished and it didn't even take me very long; which shoots down my usual excuse of 'I don't have time to exercise'! I don't know if I'm brave enough to post my measurements like my sis did on her blog; 2 Sisters Bitch, but I should. It took me a while just to get the blog set up-it might be another month before I find time to take my measurements. I just found time to fit in exercise, let's not go overboard with trying to fit in time to take my measurements also!!

Initial try

OK, so my fave bro-in-law thought I could do this blog thing on my own-Well, it only took me a little over a month to FINALLY get around to trying it- My sister and I are blogging to track each other and offer motivation as we both seem to struggle to lose some weight. I need to lose the weight, then I want to tone- My sister is the source of my jealousy when it comes to exercise; how hard she works at it and the time she makes for it. Seriously, when she first told me she 'miled out' her running shoes, I was simply amazed. I would like to be like her in the exercise department. No, scratch that, remember, I'm the jealous one-I want to be better at it than her!!
